Welcome. If you don't like the
idea of being dragged round the usual sights with a large group, and are looking for a
customised excursion on the River
Negro, River Solimões or River Amazonas
with the personal attention of your own bi-lingual guide,
you´ve come to the right place! Below, you'll find a map and
some details of our trips, but please feel free to
email us
to find out more. We also recommend you have a look at the
video clip (left) prepared by Mark Trigg, one of our happy clients -
we love it, and we hope you will too.
Our boat, the Shamrock, is docked on the Rio Tarumã,
to the west of the city (near the hotel Tropical), and we can
arrange pick-ups and drop-offs to/from
anywhere in the city or along the river. The Shamrock is a covered 6m
all-aluminium speedboat
which will accommodate 4 passengers comfortably for day-trips. The
boat has a cruising range of approximately 200km per day (depending
on weather). It will also sleep two adults, but not with any
degree of comfort(!), and for this reason our longer trips generally
involve camping or making use of local towns en route.

We have standard charges for
local excursions (Meeting of the Waters, Lago Janauari, Rubber
Museum, Rio Negro beaches etc) and apply an engine-hour charge
for customised short trips. We are also happy to quote for longer
trips on a per-day or whole-trip basis, and this can be inclusive or
exclusive of fuel, food, accommodation etc., as you wish. One
of our more popular longer excursions is the two day trip to
Novo Airão, but please note we will not
undertake this unless you have a clear day between the return
time and your onward flight. Ask for a price - we think you'll
be (pleasantly!) surprised.
The Shamrock complies with all
local port regulations and carries all necessary safety and
first-aid equipment. The skipper has over 400 hours experience
operating in the Amazon and is qualified through the UK Royal
Yachting Association's International Certificate scheme.
The Shamrock works best for
couples (by far our biggest group of clients) and small groups (4 maximum). But if you think you might need a larger boat,
why not take a look at the
page
introducing the Naice I,
which is due to be ready in 2011 - we are now taking
enquiries for this!
