Caveats and tips |
|
|
Here's all the smallprint...
1) We have a dog and we like animals. This is the Amazon, after all, so no squashing bugs or braining lizards without consultation, okay? We have some fearsome-looking insects and animals which are quite harmless (and some which aren't), but mostly anything worth worrying about won't come near you. Please bear this in mind during your stay.
2) We try to be as eco-friendly as possible. Don't chuck things out or pour stuff down the sink without thinking about its impact first (it's not all going via the Brixton treatment plant, right?)
3) Clean water is precious. Our water comes from a well, so don't leave taps on and just generally be aware of water conservation.
4) No going into the swimming pool without having a shower first. The dirtier you are, the more we have to clean the pool. The more we have to clean the pool, the more we have to purge the water. The more we have to purge the water, the more gets into the river and the more comes out of the well (please note we use only environmentally friendly products in our pool).
5) Like just about anywhere else in the world these days, we need to be security conscious. If you have a key. look after it and make sure you return it. Valuables can be left with us. Make sure you lock all external doors when leaving or arriving.
6) Check-out time is normally 12:00, but we know onward travel can be complicated sometimes. If you're in any doubt about needing to stay on a bit longer, talk to us in advance as we may need to re-arrange the times for the cleaner etc.
7) If you're out in the Shamrock, have a good time but bear in mind el capitan has your safety to consider. While on board you must act on his instructions at all times.
8) Don't forget to bring your insect repellent - the more DEET in it, the better. But be careful with it, because it eats plastic.
9) It is easy to become dehydrated in the Amazon. Make sure you always drink plenty of water while you're here - even if you don't feel like it. Dehydration can make you feel seriously bad and ruin your stay.
10) If in doubt about anything, just ask. There's no such thing as a stoopid question.
